MARY'S DEATH

Dr. Mark McCormack goes on trial for the rape of his wife, Mary DuVall. Julia takes his case and after hearing Mary's side of the story, intends to throw it and put Mark behind bars. Julia's plot is discovered by Mark, Mary is killed in the course of an argument about the trial when she's crushed by the fall of a giant neon "C" atop the Capwell Hotel. She dies in her lover, Mason's, arms, while pregnant with their child. Mason swears revenge against everyone who made Mary's life miserable, including Mark, CC, and Julia. Mark's crimes are uncovered and Mason comes to grips with his grief, with the help of his family and Julia.
1986

Part 1: Julia reveals her intention to throw Mark's case to Augusta. Mason is in disbelief that Julia would agree to represent Mark
Part 2: Mark grills Julia about his case, and Mason tries to prepare Mary for her testimony.
Part 3: Mary wants to withdraw her complaint against Mark. Mark confronts Julia about her lack of preparation for his trial.

Part 4: Mark talks Mary into going to the roof of the Capwell Hotel with him to discuss dropping the case.
Part 5: Julia arrives in time to see Mary crushed by a giant "C."
Part 6: Mason tries to kill Mark. Mason and Mark grieve over Mary. Mark threatens Julia.

Part 7: Ted tries to help Mason prepare for Mary's funeral. Mark shows up to taunt Mason.
Part 8: Mason talks to Mary's casket and remembers their time together. Mary's funeral commences.

Part 9: Mason presses charges against Julia. Mark lies about Julia's intentions to Mason.
Part 10: Mason holds Mark at gunpoint on the roof of the Capwell Hotel. He then confronts Julia with a gun in the courtroom.
Part 11: Julia helps track down an increasingly unhinged Mason and finds him in the chapel mourning Mary.
Part 12: Julia tries to coax the truth of what happened to Mark out of Mason. Mason hands his gun, and Mark over to Cruz and reveals he has a signed confession from Mark.

Part 13: Keith harasses Julia after she has a rough night on the town and tries to pin Eden's hit and run on her.
Part 14: Keith blackmails Julia into working for him and then propositions her.


To compensate for her lack of comedic technique, Brown looks to the GH directors and her castmates for guidance. "A couple of our actors like Billy Warlock and Nancy Lee Grahn (AJ and Alexis), are really great at that kind of stuff.
